  • The lines between making art and appreciating art are blurry. You can apply to this residency if you share a love of beauty, personal growth, and a search for awe.

    Priority will be given to artists who demonstrate a commitment to their practice through an observable output.

  • Daniel Audet, the fourth generation of a family of ranchers to call this valley home. He is a practicing artist with a focus in painting. In 2019 Daniel retuned to this landscape of his youth with the idea of building a place for artists to come and experience an environment of truly unique beauty.

    Daniel lives in the Top House full-time and hosts artists in the spare rooms. This is particularly ideal for painters who want to find guidance in their practice.

    Regardless of your accommodation choice Daniel is often available to answer questions, give walkabouts, go for bike rides, play disc golf, or talk art during your stay.

  • It is suggested that you book at least one week to fully immerse yourself in the rhythm of the valley. This is truly a unique environment and the longer you are able to stay the more you will be able to draw from your experience.

  • The property is located within walking distance of Writing-on-Stone/Aisina'pi Provincial Park and UNESCO World Heritage site. This is about a four hour drive from the city of Calgary which is the closest international airport.

    You will be sent a map pin of the exact location upon acceptance.

  • Nowheres edge is an independent residency. Artists can use their time in whatever manner they see fit.

    There are no production requirements, nor are there any exploration requirements.

  • Bring your art supplies; the nearest place to get decent materials is Calgary. Easels and art tables are provided.

    Bring your favourite food. If you need to resupply during your stay there is a grocery store in the town of Milk River, a 30 minute drive away, or a variety of food stores in the city of Lethbridge, which is 1.5 hours away.

    Bring your mountain bike if you have one, discs for the golf course, hiking boots, outdoor clothing, backpack, water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent, camera.

    Bring a sense of curiosity and adventure.

  • Due to unpredictable wildlife it is recommended that you leave your pets at home.

    No pets are allowed in any of the buildings.

  • Stay in the Barn if you want full isolation while still having all of the comforts of home. This building allows you to have as little or as much contact with any other artists on the property. You can apply as an individual, group, or family.

    Stay in the Top House if you want more of a guided experience of art life in the valley. There are two guest rooms; one queen bed plus a couch, and one with a king bed. Residents have their own full bathroom. Bring your favourite lunch and snacks, supper is provided.

    Stay at the Campsite between May and September if you love nature and want the ultimate plein air painting experience. There is power, portable water, and a shower building. Outdoor Kitchen is currently under construction.
